Car that lives beyond the dashboard!

Designing a digital-first mobile experience for first-time EV owners in India to remotely control, monitor, and stay connected with their vehicle.
The app acts as a smart companion that simplifies everyday EV interactions — from live vehicle tracking and charging insights to remote controls and trip monitoring.

My Role

  • Led end-to-end UX design across iOS and Android platforms.

  • Owned research synthesis, information architecture, and user flow planning.

  • Created concept designs, interaction patterns, and high-fidelity visual directions.

  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to drive product vision and execution.

  • Delivered final UI/UX solutions with developer-ready design handoff.

  • Ensured consistency, usability, and scalability across mobile experiences.

The Challenge

  • No shared mental model - Remote AC scheduling and geofencing were genuinely novel for the target user. Every interaction had to teach without condescending.

  • Trust was the core UX problem - Research across India and the US revealed the same theme — users wanted to feel in control, informed, and safe before they'd explore advanced features.

  • Brand ethos vs. usability - Designed for 7 distinct user personas spanning field staff to city-level administrators

Insights from Research

  1. Trust through transparency users want to be kept informed, always

  2. Comfort & control are primary motivators over features

  3. Pre-trip car health check was a high-anxiety moment needing clear UX

  4. Personalisation (insurance, driving score) drove long-term retention

Impact & Outcomes

Five measurable UX improvements that defined the app's quality bar — and set the standard for post-launch feature additions.

  • Less time to task — Remote actions reachable in one touch from home screen — no nested navigation

  • Improved affordance Clear visual distinction between status indicators and interactive controls — a first across reviewed competitor apps

  • Easy decisions Key actions categorised and presented with clear hierarchy — reducing cognitive load at high-anxiety moments

  • Contextual feedback Timestamped confirmation for every remote command — building the trust that competitive analysis showed was missing

  • Efficient Information Contextually surfaced data — the right information at the right moment, never buried or front-loaded unnecessarily
